Clause 1.6 of ISO/IEC 26300

We believe that this clause should be deleted for two reasons. First, it is not the job of ISO/IEC 26300 to change whitespace handling behaviour of XML processors. Second, although some ODF application programs may first delete intervening whitespace before starting any core works, other application programs might not change the internal DOM tree. They might immediately create different data structures (which are beyond the scope of ISO/IEC 26300) and discard the DOM tree. Or, they might simply preserve whitespace in transforming ODF documents. This clause disallows such applications without enhancing interoperability.
