Abstract: This document defines version 2.0 of the XML Localisation
Interchange
File Format (XLIFF). The purpose of this vocabulary is to store localizable
data
and carry it from one step of the localization process to the other, while
allowing interoperability between tools.
TC Description:
Advancing a multi-lingual data exchange standard for localisation.
XLIFF TC currently works on the major new version of the XLIFF standard,
XLIFF
2.0 that superseeds XLIFF 1.2 produced by the same TC.
The 2.0 public review release contains a core specification along with 8
modules
with advanced data and metadata exchange functionality in various areas such
translation candidates, size restrictions, formatting preview etc.
Notification List:
Prof. Felix Sasaki (Chair MultilingualWeb-LT WG), who will be able to forward
to
public-multilingualweb-lt@w3.org - MultilingualWeb-LT WG at W3C that produces
ITS 2.0;
Helena Chapman (hchapman@us.ibm.com), Chair ULI TC at Unicode Consortium, who
will be able to forward this to the ULI TC list;
Bryan Schnabel (XLIFF TC liaison with ETSI ISG LIS,
bryan.s.schnabel@tektronix.com) and Joachim Schurig (Chair ETSI ISG LIS)
joachim.schurig@lionbridge.com), who will be able to forward this to the ETSI
ISG LIS e-mail list;
We would also like to notify ISO TC 37, yet we understand that only an
approved
OASIS standard can be officially reviewed by ISO to progress it as draft
international standard.
We advise to contact Prof. Alan K. Melby (akmtrg@byu.edu), who will be able
to
informally engage with important stakeholders from ISO TC37.
Notes: The TC decided to hold the first public review for 30 days.
