      Replace "publication" with "application message", and "retained publication" with "retained message". In a couple of cases, the word "publication" is used to mean the act of publishing a message rather than the actual message. That's OK.

      We've been a bit inconsistent with terminology referring to "application messages" in most places and "publications" in others. For clarity and sake of a simple glossary, we should settle on one term and use it throughout. This is not a very large effort.
