      In 17.465 style:apply-style-name we currently have the restriction:
      "If the referenced style is undefined or is an automatic style, an error occurs."

      If a conditional style is created by the user choosing properties for a specific object (rather than defining a named set of formatting properties), according to 2.16.3 the referenced styles ought to be automatic styles. 17.465 prohibits that.

      There does not seem to be any reason for that restriction.
