Abstract: This document describes a protocol for publishing service metadata
within a 4-corner network. In a 4-corner network, entities are exchanging
business documents through intermediary gateway services (sometimes called
Access Points). To successfully send a business document in a 4-corner
network,
an entity must be able to discover critical metadata about the recipient
(endpoint) of the business document, such as types of documents the endpoint
is
capable of receiving and methods of transport supported. The recipient makes
this metadata available to other entities in the network through a Service
Metadata Publisher service. This specification describes the request/response
exchanges between a Service Metadata Publisher and a client wishing to
discover
endpoint information. A client can either be an end-user business application
or
a gateway/access point in the 4-corner network. It also defines the request
processing that must happen at the client.

Notes: This is the second public review of SMP 1.0. After the initial public
review of CSD 01, the TC has issued CSD 02 (with non-material changes) and
CSD
03. This request is for publishing the CSD 03 with a subsequent 15-day public
review. No public review was held for CSD 02. All changes are documented in
the
Appendix D of the SMP 1.0 CSD 03 specification (titled Revision History).
Additionally, comments were received for CSD 01 after the closing of the
initial
public review (see:
https://lists.oasis-open.org/archives/bdxr-comment/201602/msg00002.html). A
comment resolution log for these comments has been approved by the TC and is
supplied above as well as here:
