Title and version number:
Universal Business Language Version 2.4
Specification URL:

English-language summary of the specification:
This specification defines the Universal Business Language (UBL) version 2.4. UBL is designed to provide a universally understood and recognized syntax for legally binding business documents and to operate within a standard business framework such as ISO/IEC 15000 (ebXML) to provide a complete, standards-based infrastructure that can extend the benefits of existing EDI systems to businesses of all sizes.
Relationship to similar work:
UBL provides a standard data format for business documents to be exchanged in e-Delivery infrastructures such as those defined by the OASIS BDXR TC and by ebXML (ISO 15000). Since UBL is designed to be agnostic with respect to the infrastructure, UBL messages can be used in a very wide range of functional contexts, from complex service-oriented architectures and cloud services to the simple exchange of documents via email.
